Our goal was to create an SOS Buddy for emergency support. Especially the elderly and people with disabilities may need additional assistance in their daily life, while still wanting to be independent.

The design revolves around advanced 3D radar sensors that are able to detect even very small movements, such as fingers typing on a keyboard, without actually capturing an image. This technology is capable of identifying critical situations, including detecting falls or instances of individuals not breathing. Coupled with appropriate software, the SOS Buddy can check on a person's well-being and, depending on the situation, inquire if everything is okay, notify family members, or even initiate an ambulance call.

The companion app is used to set up the product, allowing users to save emergency contacts, select their preferred user mode, and fine-tune sensor sensitivity. After user testing a few lo-fi mockups, a first prototype was developed for the final presentation.
